Iron Chapel

Lyrics

Intro
Ash in the mouth
Cold iron prayer
Footsteps drag
Through the chapel air
Low bells moan
Under my skin
The door is cracked
Let the night come in

Verse 1
I woke with a brand
Under my tongue
Black salt words
For the chosen and young
The floorboards groan
Like a guilty bone
Every candle I touch
Turns into stone

There’s a mirror here
That won’t reflect
Only a grin
And a silhouette
I hear my name
In a swollen hiss
Like the deepest wound
Learning how to kiss

Pre-Chorus
Come closer now
Hear the vow
The walls are thin
And they’re hungry now
One more step
Then the flood begins
I can feel the shape
Of the thing within

Chorus
Heavy metal bliss
Heavy metal bliss
Burn in the jaw
And seal the wrist
Heavy metal bliss
Heavy metal bliss
Bow to the scream
And take the hit
(Heavy metal bliss)
(Heavy metal bliss)

Verse 2
Rusted chains
Swing in time
Like broken saints
On a butcher line
My shadow grows
With a crooked crown
And every false god
Gets dragged down

I tasted fear
Like a blackened flood
It ran so deep
It turned to blood
Now I wear the ache
Like a second skin
And the dark keeps laughing
Where I begin

Pre-Chorus
Come closer now
Hear the vow
The walls are thin
And they’re hungry now
One more step
Then the flood begins
I can feel the shape
Of the thing within

Chorus
Heavy metal bliss
Heavy metal bliss
Burn in the jaw
And seal the wrist
Heavy metal bliss
Heavy metal bliss
Bow to the scream
And take the hit
(Heavy metal bliss)
(Heavy metal bliss)

Bridge
Drop to your knees
Tell me what you see
A hollowed king
Or a beast like me
The breath goes thin
The lights go red
I buried my peace
And it rose instead

Breakdown
Kneel
Kneel
Kneel for the flood
Spit out the gold
And drink the mud
Rage in the ribs
Claw in the chest
I am the curse
That outlives rest

Solo
[Searing lead guitar solo over pounding triplet chugs and cymbal crashes]

Verse 3
Now the gates are gone
And the night is wide
I walk through fire
With a grin inside
No hymn can save
What I’ve become
I feed on thunder
I feed on the drum

So strike that bell
Let the stone break free
If the devil wants
He can follow me
I came for the pain
I came for the roar
I came for the void
And I want more

Pre-Chorus
Come closer now
Hear the vow
The walls are thin
And they’re hungry now
One more step
Then the flood begins
I can feel the shape
Of the thing within

Chorus
Heavy metal bliss
Heavy metal bliss
Burn in the jaw
And seal the wrist
Heavy metal bliss
Heavy metal bliss
Bow to the scream
And take the hit
(Heavy metal bliss)
(Heavy metal bliss)

Outro
Ash in the mouth
Cold iron prayer
The chapel falls
But I’m still there
Heavy metal bliss
Let it rot
I wear the dark
And I love the burn I’ve got
