Ghost in the Basement

Lyrics

Intro
Something down there
Breathing through the floor
Tap-tap-tap
At the basement door

Verse 1
I heard it crawl
Under the concrete skin
Counted the knocks
Then they counted me in
The light went gray
When I touched the rail
Cold in my teeth
Like a rusted nail

Pre-Chorus
Don't look down
Don't say my name
It's awake now
It knows my shape

Chorus
Ghost in the basement
Ghost in the basement
It learned my face
It stole my patience
Ghost in the basement
Ghost in the basement
I hear it smile
Through the drainage

Verse 2
The walls sweat black
In the storage room
Old paper bags
And a bent-up broom
My shadow split
At the broken step
Two feet ahead
But one left wet

Pre-Chorus
Don't look down
Don't say my name
It's awake now
It knows my shape

Chorus
Ghost in the basement
Ghost in the basement
It learned my face
It stole my patience
Ghost in the basement
Ghost in the basement
I hear it smile
Through the drainage

Verse 3
Mouth on the drain
Voice like a drill
Telling me secrets
Against my will
"Come on in"
In a low machine hiss
I blinked once
And it took my wrists

Bridge
Breakdown
I am the room
I am the lock
I am the child
With the shattered clock
Skin on the pipe
Nerves in the wire
Something below
Keeps climbing higher

Chorus
Ghost in the basement
Ghost in the basement
It learned my face
It stole my patience
Ghost in the basement
Ghost in the basement
I hear it smile
Through the drainage

Outro
Tap-tap-tap
At the basement door
Something down there
Breathing through the floor
Ghost in the basement
Ghost in the basement
