No Such Thing As Perfect
by CJ Frei
Lyrics
Verse 1
You missed the turn,
We laughed instead.
The coffee spilled
All over the dash again.
The picture's blurry,
The timing's wrong.
Funny how...
Those become your favorite ones.
Pre-Chorus
We're all a little cracked,
A little unfinished.
Maybe that's
How the light gets in.
Chorus
There's no such thing as perfect...
(Crowd: "No such thing!")
No perfect road,
No perfect day.
(Crowd: "That's okay!")
It's the little dents,
The wrong turns,
The stories that we tell.
Turns out...
That's living well.
There's no such thing as perfect...
And I wouldn't have it
Any other way.
Verse 2
Some dreams take longer,
Some hearts need healing.
Some days you dance,
Some days you're just breathing.
Either way...
You're doing better
Than you think you are.
Pre-Chorus
Don't wait
For everything
To fall into place.
Sometimes...
This is the place.
Chorus
There's no such thing as perfect...
(Crowd joins in.)
No perfect words,
No perfect plan.
Just real hearts,
Holding real hands.
If you're here,
You're doing fine.
One step at a time.
There's no such thing as perfect...
You're already enough.
Bridge
Look around...
Every face out there
Has a story.
Every smile
Has survived something.
None of us
Made it here
Without a few scars.
And somehow...
We're all still singing.
Final Chorus
There's no such thing as perfect!
(Full crowd singing)
No perfect life,
No perfect night.
Just this moment,
And it feels alright.
Raise your voice,
Raise your glass.
Here's to every beautiful mess
That brought us here at last.
There's no such thing as perfect...
(Crowd continues singing)
No such thing...
No such thing...
(Band drops out, crowd carries the melody.)
No such thing as perfect...
We're perfectly alive.
Outro
(The audience softly repeats)
"No such thing..."
"No such thing..."
"We're perfectly alive..."
