Seam Sealed Mouth

Lyrics

Intro
I hear the seam seal break
Somebody moved inside the frame
Cold pinches under my skin
Like a lock learning my name
(again)
(again)

Verse 1
The hallway bends when I blink
Metal mouth in the wall
It knows my steps by the creak
It knows my shape by the fall
A little light in the vent
A little pulse in the pipe
It keeps a patient count
Till I forget my own life
(own life)

Pre-Chorus
Don’t look up
Don’t answer back
It wants my breath
It wants my track
Don’t look up
It’s right behind
A borrowed face
A stolen mind

Chorus
Seam sealed mouth
Speak through me
Seam sealed mouth
Set me free
Seam sealed mouth
I can’t resist
Seam sealed mouth
I don’t exist
(seam sealed mouth)
(seam sealed mouth)

Breakdown
Knuckles on steel
Three hard knocks
Name in the dark
Then it stops
Mouth full of sparks
Chest full of rust
Say my own name
Turn to dust
(turn to dust)

Verse 2
There’s a stain on the door
Where the handle used to be
And it twitches when I stand
Like it recognizes me
My thoughts come back wrong
With a machine-taste grin
Every time I try to run
It drags the room back in
(back in)

Pre-Chorus
Don’t look up
Don’t answer back
It wants my breath
It wants my track
Don’t look up
It’s in the walls
A borrowed face
A puppet call

Chorus
Seam sealed mouth
Speak through me
Seam sealed mouth
Set me free
Seam sealed mouth
I can’t resist
Seam sealed mouth
I don’t exist
(seam sealed mouth)
(seam sealed mouth)

Breakdown
Wires in my veins
Grinding low
Something inside
Won’t let go
Jaw locked shut
Heart beat wrong
Pull the cord
Sing its song
(its song)

Verse 3
Now the mirror stutters back
With a mouth that isn’t mine
Every blink is a key turn
Every breath a thin white line
I taste iron in the prayer
I taste smoke in the skin
If I open wide enough
Maybe something leaves within
(leaves within)

Pre-Chorus
Don’t look up
Don’t answer back
It wants my breath
It wants my track
Don’t look up
It knows my shape
A borrowed face
No way to escape

Chorus
Seam sealed mouth
Speak through me
Seam sealed mouth
Set me free
Seam sealed mouth
I can’t resist
Seam sealed mouth
I don’t exist
(seam sealed mouth)
(seam sealed mouth)

Outro
The frame goes still
The room goes thin
A final breath
And it gets in
Seam sealed mouth
Close over me
Seam sealed mouth
Let me be
(be)
