The Mask of Rasidun
Lyrics
I stole a relic carved in flame
A cursed mask bound to no name
Hidden deep where shadows slept
Among the ruins time forgot and kept
The moment that it touched my skin
I heard a voice crawl deep within
Cold whispers twisting through my mind
Turning mercy cruel and blind
It promised power… endless sight…
But fed itself on rage each night
Oh Rasidun, what have I done?
I wore the face of the fallen sun
A puppet dancing in cursed strings
With poison sewn beneath my wings
I lost my name, I lost my way
The mask consumed me day by day
Till all that lived became my prey—
Beneath the mask of Rasidun
Then through the mist I saw them there
A faun-born rider unaware
Beside him walked a hatchling flame
Too innocent for what became
I stole from him—I don’t know why
Perhaps the mask had changed my eyes
And when he reached the hidden place
I cursed the child to hatchling state
Below the Giant’s ancient tree
The mask pulled tighter over me
Chorus
Oh Rasidun, what have I done?
I blackened skies that knew the sun
A thief, a beast, a twisted thing
Bound beneath corruption’s sting
I watched the fear inside their eyes
Yet somewhere deep, a soul survived
Still calling out beneath the chains—
A fading voice beneath the pain
But hatchlings born of fire and fate
Would challenge time itself to break
Through north and west and east and south
They sought the guardians spoken about
Dragon spirits old as stars
Awakened truths in ancient hearts
And side by side, through storm and flame
The double hatchlings came for me
The battle shook the sky apart
And for the first time… I heard my heart
The mask slipped loose…
Its whispers died…
And I collapsed…
Empty inside…
Oh Rasidun, your chains are gone
The curse that held me has withdrawn
No longer bound by shadowed lies
I finally saw through borrowed eyes
The ones I hurt reached out their hands
Instead of striking where I stand
And though I thought I’d walk alone—
They gave a lost soul somewhere called home
I left behind the mask and flame
But they still called me by my name
No longer cursed… no longer undone…
Just Raúl beneath the setting sun…
