INTRO — THE NIGHT STARTS
Bass in the room, everybody outside,
Music in the air, people moving side to side.
I walked through the crowd with a calm little stride,
Didn't know that a whole situation was about to collide.
Saw her across the room, caught her looking my way,
We talked for a minute, then we talked all day.
Nothing too serious, just laughing and jokes,
Everybody around us started making their notes.
One friend said, “Y'all look good together,”
Another said, “Maybe this could last forever.”
I laughed it off, kept enjoying the night,
Everything seemed cool, everything seemed right.
Then somebody whispered something low in the crowd,
Didn't think much of it, music was loud.
I kept dancing, kept moving along,
Not knowing that whisper would turn into a song.
VERSE 1 — THE FIRST RUMOR
Next morning, phone buzzing, message after message,
People talking like they knew the whole premise.
“Did you hear what happened?”
“What happened where?”
“Everybody's talking.”
“Talking about what? Where?”
One person said she said something about me,
Another said somebody else heard it differently.
I tried to understand, but the details wouldn't match,
Every version came with another little patch.
One said I was angry, one said I was mad,
One said I did something that I never had.
One said she told them, one said she didn't,
By the time it reached me, the story was splitting.
I stayed calm, didn't jump to conclusions,
Too many voices, too many illusions.
I thought to myself, “Let me hear it firsthand,”
Because rumors get bigger when they move hand to hand.
PRE-CHORUS
Wait—pause that beat,
Too much noise in the street.
Before I react, before I decide,
I'm checking what's real on every side.
CHORUS — JERSEY CLUB
Bounce, bounce—what's the word?
Too many stories that I heard!
Step left—then slide right,
I'm keeping my head clear tonight!
Bass hit—don't lose control!
Rumors running, taking toll!
Talk straight—tell me what's true,
I don't wanna hear it secondhand from you!
Hey! Hey! Let it ride!
I don't need the crowd to pick a side!
Step, step—switch that lane!
Don't let gossip drive my brain!
Boom, boom—beat comes back!
Piece by piece, I check the facts!
If it's real, then let it show,
If it's false, then let it go!

VERSE 2 — THE STORY GROWS
By lunchtime, everybody had a version,
Same little story wearing different wording.
One person added something I never said,
Another changed the ending inside their head.
Someone told somebody who told somebody else,
Then suddenly the story had a life of itself.
It traveled through the room like a spark through dry grass,
Every person adding something as it passed.
I walked by and conversations got quiet,
Then I heard my name and wondered why it was private.
I didn't wanna argue, didn't wanna explode,
I just wanted answers before I hit the road.
I asked one person, “Where did you hear that?”
They said, “Somebody told me.”
I said, “Who was that?”
They pointed across the room, but that person denied it,
Now we're back at the beginning—nobody supplied it.
Round and round, like a record on repeat,
Rumor getting louder every time it hit the street.
I could've yelled, but I stayed composed,
Because anger doesn't tell you where the truth goes.

VERSE 3 — THE FIRST CONFRONTATION
I finally walked over and asked face to face,
“Can we clear this up before it gets out of place?”
No screaming, no threats, no throwing blame,
Just two people talking about what became.
She said, “That's not what I said at all.”
I said, “Then why's everybody telling me?”
She said, “I don't know who started it.”
I said, “That's exactly the problem.”
Then another person stepped into the conversation,
Trying to explain their interpretation.
But every explanation created something new,
And I still couldn't tell which parts were true.
Then somebody said, “Wait, I remember the start.”
Everybody turned, and the room went dark.
They said, “It wasn't supposed to become this big.
Somebody misunderstood what somebody did.”
Silence.
Nobody moved.
Nobody laughed.
The whole situation suddenly looked different.
---
BEAT SWITCH
BOOM!
Hold up!
Run that back!
Something doesn't match!
Left! Right!
Change the pace!
Now we're getting to the place!
Step! Step!
Check the facts!
Who's been adding to the tracks?
Bounce! Bounce!
Don't react!
Find the truth before the act!

VERSE 4 — THE SHOCKING TURN
Then somebody pulled out the original message,
The very first words before all the edits.
Everybody gathered, reading line by line,
And suddenly the whole thing started making sense in my mind.
What I heard wasn't what had actually been said,
The rumor had been stretched as it traveled instead.
A simple conversation became something extreme,
Then everybody repeated the exaggerated scene.
Somebody changed one word.
Someone changed two.
Then another person added something untrue.
By the time it came back around to me,
It barely resembled what it started to be.
I looked around like, “So
