Cominito del Angel
Lyrics
Cominito del Angel
Dusty rose-painted sky
Tumbleweeds of the mind, rolling by.
Rocky, dusty, cactus-lined paths,
Rattlesnakes hiding in every crevice and crack.
Horse of onyx returning to the endless well—
Round and round, back to Hell.
See the light on the horizon;
The thirst for truth is slowly rising.
Riding tirelessly, heart aflame,
Toward the angel without a name.
Upon a mountain, a glimpse, a flash—
Rhone horse racing, ignoring the lash.
Doubting Thomas, my patron saint.
“Didymus,” the wind cried, “Doth Heaven wait?”
Arise to stand on unsteady feet;
The narrow path—the one to seek.
Beneath a mesquite, a place of rest,
Solitude to heal a soul’s distress.
In soothing slumber, a horse of white—
Chiseled, armored, a steed of might.
Upon his head, a crown of thorns. Aloud, it is said, “Child, do not mourn.
For soon I will call you all as well,
And here we will meet at 1 Cominito del Angel.”
