Venom Tongue

Lyrics

Intro
Hush now
I know your name
Hush now
I know your face

Verse 1
I heard you breathing through the walls
Counting cracks in my mind
Little hands on the glass at night
Like you live behind my eyes
You wear my skin like borrowed clothes
You smile with my teeth
Every thought you feed me
Leaves a poison I can’t keep

Pre-Chorus
Tick by tick
You lean in close
Say my fear is a door
Tick by tick
My bones unlock
And you ask for more

Chorus
Venom tongue, venom tongue
Spit my name
Venom tongue, venom tongue
Break the chain
I taste you in my blood
I taste you in my blood
Venom tongue, venom tongue
Make me change

Verse 2
Cold machine inside my chest
Pushing nails through the wires
Every prayer comes back bent
Like a wire wrapped in fire
I fed you all my silent days
You ate them clean and still
Now you talk in my dead voice
And you make my mouth go still

Pre-Chorus
Tick by tick
You lean in close
Say my fear is a door
Tick by tick
My bones unlock
And you ask for more

Chorus
Venom tongue, venom tongue
Spit my name
Venom tongue, venom tongue
Break the chain
I taste you in my blood
I taste you in my blood
Venom tongue, venom tongue
Make me change

Breakdown
Bite down
Bite down
Say it again
I am the cage
You are the stain
Bite down
Bite down
Under my skin
I hear you grinning
From within

Verse 3
Now the mirror shakes at dawn
With a face I used to know
Eyes like holes in winter glass
And a mouth that won’t let go
If I scream, you answer back
If I kneel, you stand
Pulling all my marrow strings
With your wire-black hand

Pre-Chorus
Tick by tick
You lean in close
Say my fear is a door
Tick by tick
My bones unlock
And you ask for more

Bridge
Whispered
Count to six
Count to none
Close the lid
Let it run
Growled
You wanted a monster
You made one
You wanted a monster
Now run

Breakdown
Venom tongue
Venom tongue
Venom tongue
Venom tongue
Spit it out
Spit it out
I was never yours
Never yours

Chorus
Venom tongue, venom tongue
Spit my name
Venom tongue, venom tongue
Break the chain
I taste you in my blood
I taste you in my blood
Venom tongue, venom tongue
Make me change

Outro

I know your name
