Hummingbird and Butterfly

Lyrics

Verse 1
Me and my crush
Ay
Met her up just past nine
Sneakers on
Cheap red wine
Laughing at nothing
Wasting time

We walked ‘til the sky turned gold
Sharing secrets we never told
She spun ‘round in that old shirt
I swear my chest kinda hurt

Chorus
She’s my hummingbird and butterfly
Ay
Little bit of wild in the sweetest way
Chasing every color in the fading sky
Ay
Ay
Ay
We were checking every corner of this tired town
Hand in hand ‘til the sun went down
Didn’t even notice how the hours flew by
Hummingbird and butterfly
Ay
Ay
Ay

Verse 2
She stole my hat
Ran ahead
Turned around
Stuck out her tongue instead
Took my phone
Filled it up
With blurry pictures and paper cups

We missed the last train home
So we danced by the corner store glow
She said
“Don’t let this night blur”
I said
“I just wanna follow her”

Chorus
She’s my hummingbird and butterfly
Ay
Little bit of wild in the sweetest way
Chasing every color in the fading sky
Ay
Ay
Ay
We were checking every corner of this tired town
Hand in hand ‘til the sun went down
Didn’t even notice how the hours flew by
Hummingbird and butterfly
Ay
Ay
Ay
