just because I choose to walk forward I will never forget the places I have been the time I have been at my lowest living on the streets broken homeless depressed seeing no way out of the hell I was in feeling like I was forgotten lost in the land of my own choices to remain in the hopeless state of my addiction feeding myself with the poison that made my own defeat sound so easy and so sweet to keep feeding this beast of addiction feeling hopelessly lost stuck in submission now seeing that I am capable of changing my path I can see life within my future no excuses just one more clean and sober night to leave a legacy I can be able to hold my head high one day at a time no matter how hard to struggle gets walking one foot in front of the other making the conscious choice to live clean and sober making the right choices no more drugs no more bad choices just a lot of hard work free from pain and the shame I carried in the past knowing God will see me through this path I choose to take helping me stay true to the promise I made taking this life each breath one day at a time never looking back on who I was but knowing who I am now still walking forward One foot in front of the other one day at a time never looking back to the past the past is over
