Let Him Speak

Lyrics

Verse 1
We write the story in black and white
Paint every shadow as pure dark night
No room for questions, no second glance
We pass the verdict before the chance
History carved by a trembling hand
Truth gets buried where we all stand
We fear the voice from the other side
So we silence it, let judgment ride

Pre-Chorus
But what if there’s more we never knew?
A hidden line in a twisted view
If every fault that we underline
Is half a story and half a lie

Chorus
Let him speak, let him say his name
Before we throw him into the flame
Let him bleed every broken truth
Before we burn down all of the proof
Let him stand in the light we keep
If we condemn him, first let him speak

Verse 2
We love the comfort of sharpened blame
Build our halos from someone’s shame
Raise our voices, a polished crowd
So sure we’re right when we’re shouting loud
But in the quiet, when echoes fade
All our certainty comes unmade
If we were standing there in his place
Would we beg for one saving grace?

Pre-Chorus
What if the page we were handed first
Cut out the best and kept all the worst?
If every rumor we chose to trust
Turned living people to dust and dust

Chorus
Let him speak, let him say his name
Before we throw him into the flame
Let him bleed every broken truth
Before we burn down all of the proof
Let him stand in the light we keep
If we condemn him, first let him speak

Bridge
Are we afraid that his words might land?
Shift the ground where our kingdoms stand?
If he is guilty, the truth will stay
But if he’s pleading for one more day… (one more day)

Chorus
Let him speak, let him say his name
Before we throw him into the flame
Let him bleed every broken truth
Before we burn down all of the proof
Let him stand in the light we keep
If we condemn him, first let him speak
If we condemn him, first let him speak (let him speak)
