Canada Is Dying

Lyrics

Verse 1
Canada is dying
I see it in the line at dawn
Food bank doors still locked
Kids in pajamas on the lawn
Parents sip hot water
Say they already ate
Leave the last cold sandwich
On a paper plate

Chorus
Canada is dying
I won't stay quiet
You can starve us of hope but you can't buy it
They keep us apart so we don't unite
Canada is dying
(we need to fight)

Verse 2
Hospital hallway
People stacked in plastic chairs
Doctor walks past bleeding
Says there’s nowhere left
Just prayers
Smoke in the playground
Needles by the swing
Tents on frozen concrete
Where there used to be a ring

Chorus
Canada is dying
I won't stay quiet
You can starve us of hope but you can't buy it
They keep us apart so we don't unite
Canada is dying
(we need to fight)

Bridge
They flood the streets with poison
Then blame the ones who fall
They fill the polls with faces
That never knew these walls
But I see you
My neighbour
We’re closer than they think
If we stand up together
We pull this from the brink (hey!)

Chorus
Canada is dying
I won't stay quiet
You can starve us of hope but you can't buy it
They keep us apart so we don't unite
Canada is dying
(we need to fight, we need to fight)
