Short Shorts Shuffle

Lyrics

Verse 1
Sun out, fence line, he pull up the hose
Flip-flop strut when the front gate blows
Clip-clip, hedge rows, man on a mission
Pocket got seed and a big ambition
Tiny shorts, tan legs, mowing real proud
Neighbors lean over, they laughing out loud
Push that mower like a king in chrome
Every blade of grass got a new home

Pre-Chorus
Oh yeah, he got that glow
Cut grass slow, let the whole block know
One hand wave, one hand trim
When he step outside, the whole scene grins

Chorus
Short shorts, short shorts
Cutting through the yard in short shorts
Short shorts, short shorts
Making that grass look like short shorts
Hey now, short shorts
He do the work, then he do it in short shorts
Short shorts, short shorts
Front porch talkin' 'bout short shorts

Verse 2
Garden gloves with the fingers gone
Radio blasting all day long
Rake in the dirt, sweat on his brow
Still too fresh for a full pant now
Sprinkler spinning on the cracked-up lawn
He bend down quick, then he keeps on strong
Bag full of clippings, smile too wide
Cherry-red cooler on the back-step side
He say "watch this" when he swing that shears
Whole cul-de-sac in applause and cheers

Pre-Chorus
Oh yeah, he got that glow
Cut grass slow, let the whole block know
One hand wave, one hand trim
When he step outside, the whole scene grins

Chorus
Short shorts, short shorts
Cutting through the yard in short shorts
Short shorts, short shorts
Making that grass look like short shorts
Hey now, short shorts
He do the work, then he do it in short shorts
Short shorts, short shorts
Front porch talkin' 'bout short shorts

Bridge
Mailbox open, he get a note
"Best yard on the street" with a little gold vote
He tip his cap, let the sunlight hit
Then he hit that walk like, "Yeah, that's it"
Little breeze, big pride, no shame in sight
Work all day in the summer light

Chorus
Short shorts, short shorts
Cutting through the yard in short shorts
Short shorts, short shorts
Making that grass look like short shorts
Hey now, short shorts
He do the work, then he do it in short shorts
Short shorts, short shorts
Front porch talkin' 'bout short shorts
