Do You Guys Need Something?
by CJ Frei
Lyrics
Verse 1
Finally got the little ones settled House got quiet, lights turned low
She snuggled up a little closer Said, "Looks like we've got a moment of our own."
I smiled... She smiled...
Then came a scratch out by the door...
Dog looked up with those big sad eyes...
Guess he couldn't wait no more.
Chorus
Do you guys need something?
Seems that's all we ever hear
Every time we steal a little moment
Somebody appears
Phone rings... Door knocks... One more thing before we're through
Funny how the whole wide world...
Always needs me...
Right when I need you.
Verse 2
Back in bed, she laughed and whispered, "Maybe now..."
I leaned in close...
Then from down the hallway...
"Daaaaad..."
"I forgot you said you'd tuck me in."
So I marched right back down the hallway Read one story... maybe two...
Gave another glass of water...
And checked for monsters too.
Chorus
Do you guys need something?
That's becoming our theme song
Every little interruption
Shows up right on time somehow
Kids first... Always...
Even when they don't know why...
Verse 3
Finally made it back upstairs Thought maybe luck had turned around
Then somebody started knocking...
At the front door of the house.
Mailman stood there grinning, "Sorry, this came awful late...
Need your signature..."
I signed it...
Shook my head...
Closed the gate.
Bridge
Phone starts ringing...
Mom says,
"You kids coming Sunday?"
Twenty minutes later...
We're discussing potato salad.
Final Chorus
Do you guys need something?
Guess that's just our life these days
Wouldn't trade it for a million dollars...
Even on our craziest days
One by one The house grows quiet
Finally everything feels right...
I crawl back into bed beside her...
She yawns...
Rolls over...
Kisses me goodnight...
And softly says...
"Sorry, honey...
I'm too tired."
(Band stops.)
...
Well...
There's always tomorrow.
(Huge fiddle outro with the whole band laughing.)
