Stayed Gone

Lyrics

AMY (spoken)
Oh! Zora’s back!

STICKS (spoken)
Wow! I thought she went on a super long adventure!

AMY (spoken)
Seven whole years!

STICKS (spoken)
You still thinking about that time she almost won the big Mobius Showcase?

AMY (spoken)
Sticks…!

STICKS (spoken)
Just saying.

AMY (spoken)
Mobius has changed a lot since she left.

STICKS (spoken)
Totally!

AMY (spoken)
I guess I should show her how things work around here now.

AMY
Welcome home
I’m gonna make you wish you’d stayed gone
Say hello to a bright new status quo
Everyone knows there’s a brand‑new dawn
Turn the cameras on!

DIRECTOR (spoken)
Camera speeds—rolling in three, two—

AMY
(Welcome to the show)
Top of the hour, and we’re talking about a special friend
Who’s been spotted walking back through town
(Welcome to the show)
After her seven‑year journey
Did anybody miss her?
(Welcome to the show)
Did anybody notice?
More on tonight’s program!

So—Zora’s back in Mobius
Why’s she hanging around?
What does that mean for your buddies?
Well luckily, I’ve got news:

She’s classic, she’s vintage,
And I’m not trying to be dramatic, but she’s using older tricks
You can take that as gospel
Sharing my spotlight? Impossible
I’m sparkle—she’s just a little quieter
Stop giving her the whole day, don’t follow everything she’d say
Hope she had a fun vacay—
But she should’ve stayed away

While she traveled far and wide, we learned new skills with pride
Now her style’s kinda rare around here
Mobius grew after she split—
Where’d she go? Who cares a bit?

ZORA
Hello, friends!
It’s so nice to be back on the air
Yes, I know it’s been a while
Since someone with style
Gave Mobius a broadcast
Mobians—rejoice!

AMY (spoken)
What a sweet old‑fashioned voice.

ZORA
Instead of a trend‑chasing, sparkly little video podcast—

AMY (spoken)
Hey!

ZORA
Is Amy unsure, chasing every new allure?
Trying out this trend and that—nothing sticking?

AMY (spoken)
Ignore her giggling!

ZORA
Every day she’s got a brand‑new format!

AMY
You’re looking at the future—she’s the warm‑up act before that!

ZORA
Is Amy as strong as she claims?
Or is it all her team’s acclaim?
She’d be powerless without Team Rose

AMY (spoken)
Oh please!

ZORA
And here’s the cherry on the cream—
She asked me to join her team!

AMY (spoken)
W‑wait!

ZORA
I said no—now she’s fussy
That’s the tea!

AMY
You old‑school hedgehog, I’ll show you suf‑ffering—

ZORA
Uh oh—your signal’s buffering!

AMY
I’ll outshine you, yo‑ou lit‑tle—

ZORA
Looks like you’ve lost connection.
Let’s begin
I’m gonna make you wish that I’d stayed gone, tune on in
When I’m done, your status quo will know its race is run
Oh, this will be fun!

AMY (spoken)
Aww, nuts!
