The Man Who Was Leonidas

Lyrics

Verse 1
Before the pass... Before the fire... Before the world would know his name... He walked among the common people... Without demanding pride or fame.
He knew the blacksmith... Knew the shepherd... Knew the soldier's child by name... A king who stood beside his people...
Would never...
Rule the same.
Pre-Chorus
A throne...
May raise...
A man above.
Respect...
Is earned...
Below.
Chorus
THE MAN WHO WAS LEONIDAS!
More than sword and shield!
The greatest king...
Is known...
By those...
Who gladly...
Share his field!
THE MAN WHO WAS LEONIDAS!
Hear the people say!
"We followed not...
Because he ruled...
We followed...
Because he led."
Verse 2
He ate the bread beside his soldiers
He laughed beside the evening fire
He never asked another warrior
To climb where he would not climb higher
When winter wrapped the hills in silence
He bore the cold as every man
A king who carried every burden...
Never...
Needed...
To command.
Pre-Chorus
Lead by example...
Stand up first...
Share the hunger...
Share the hurt.
Chorus
THE MAN WHO WAS LEONIDAS!
The crown could never hide!
The strongest kings...
Walk in front...
Not safely...
Far behind!
THE MAN WHO WAS LEONIDAS!
His legacy remains!
Not because...
He faced the Persians...
But because...
He loved...
His men.
Bridge
At Thermopylae...
Three hundred stood.
History remembers...
The number.
I remember...
Something else.
Three hundred...
Chose...
To stay.
Final Chorus
THE MAN WHO WAS LEONIDAS!
Raise your voices high!
No monument...
Can tell the truth...
Like loyal...
Men...
Who'd die...
Beside him!
THE MAN WHO WAS LEONIDAS!
The lesson never ends!
The greatest leaders...
Never build...
Followers.
They build...
Brothers.
Outro
Legends...
Are remembered...
For how...
They died.
Great men...
Are remembered...
For how...
They lived.
Leonidas...
Was both.
