Old Serpent

Lyrics

(Verse)
Strange whisper in my head tonight
Saying I should speak
But every face I see around
Looks hollow, numb, asleep
(Bridge)
Why throw fire in the dark
If no one wants the spark
(Chorus)
Old serpent in my veins
Spitting venom through the pain
Sing your truth into the void
Watch it fade, destroyed
Old serpent, cold and thin
Let the silence pull you in
(Instrumental)
(Verse)
Drop the sword onto the floor
Let the battle die
Lock your words inside a drawer
Leave them there to lie
(Bridge)
Maybe truth was never meant
For ears already bent
(Chorus)
Old serpent in my veins
Spitting venom through the pain
Sing your truth into the void
Watch it fade, destroyed
Old serpent, shed your skin
Let the silence pull you in
(free interpretation part)
Nothing new beneath the sun
Every war already won
Fools still feeding on their pride
Growing gardens deep inside
First they beg to prove they're right
Then they hunger for the throne
Pleasure, power, gold and praise
Everything their own
(Final)
Old serpent in my veins
Still burning through the pain
Even if the world goes blind
Leave your poison in their mind
