Violent Thing Dreams

Lyrics

Intro
I saw it in the seam
Between the bolt and bone
A little thing was breathing
Under the factory floor
(Take it in)
(Take it in)

Verse 1
I walk the corridor
With my hands in black dust
The doors all know my name
By the shape of my rust
A whisper in the panel
Says, "Come closer"
I do
My shadow comes apart
And crawls into the view

Pre-Chorus
Count the locks
Count them again
Hear the click
At the back of your head
Cold, cold
It learns your face
One more step
And it wakes

Chorus
Dream of violent thing
Dream of violent thing
It wants my mouth
It wants my name
Dream of violent thing
Dream of violent thing
I let it in
I let it change
(Change me)

Verse 2
Now the lights don't flicker
They blink like tired eyes
My ribs keep time
With the hammer inside
A hand in the vent
Is tapping the code
Three slow knocks
Then the whole room knows
The wall starts sweating
The floor starts thin
I hear a grin
Inside the tin

Pre-Chorus
Count the locks
Count them again
Hear the click
At the back of your head
Cold, cold
It learns your face
One more step
And it wakes

Chorus
Dream of violent thing
Dream of violent thing
It wants my mouth
It wants my name
Dream of violent thing
Dream of violent thing
I let it in
I let it change
(Change me)

Bridge
Half-time breakdown
My tongue goes numb
My teeth go glass
It speaks through me
From the broken mass
No prayer, no key
No skin, no chain
Just a shape
With my voice in its veins
(Again)
(Again)

Verse 3
Now I move like wire
Pulled through a blade
Every door I touch
Leaves a fingerprint stain
The thing in the mirror
Smiles too late
My eyes are sockets
My breath is bait
I hear it calling
From under my bed
Not a dream
Not dead

Breakdown
Hit
Hit
Split the seam
Let it chew
On the dream
Low
Slow
Crush the bone
I was yours
Now I’m home
(Home)

Chorus
Dream of violent thing
Dream of violent thing
It wants my mouth
It wants my name
Dream of violent thing
Dream of violent thing
I let it in
I let it change
(Change me)

Outro
The room goes quiet
The metal forgets
I hear a lullaby
Through the vents
Dream of violent thing
Dream of violent thing
(Take it in)
(Take it in)
