smile!

Lyrics

Verse 1
Masha, Celeste, and Celia
Three names in a row
Three hearts in a ribbon
Three lies on show

They call us "rising"
They call us "gold"
But every sweet promise
Got teeth in the fold

Our smiles are stitched on
Our backs stay bent
We sign the paper
Then pay the rent

Pre-Chorus
Look how we sparkle
Look how we shine
Hands in the air now
Say that we're fine

Look how we twirl here
Look how we glow
Say we're so lucky
Don't let them know

Chorus
Smiled, smiled
Pretty and mild
Smiled, smiled
Play the sweet child

Smiled, smiled
Hold it in place
Smiled for the camera
Smile in their face

Verse 2
They dress us in sugar
Then lock the door
Count every heartbeat
Ask for more and more

One wrong word, one bruise
One step too true
And the whole bright story
Turns black on you

We know the silence
We know the cost
We know what happens
When control is lost

So we keep on glowing
Like nothing's wrong
Three little shadows
Learning the song

Pre-Chorus
Look how we sparkle
Look how we shine
Hands in the air now
Say that we're fine

Look how we twirl here
Look how we glow
Say we're so lucky
Don't let them know

Chorus
Smiled, smiled
Pretty and mild
Smiled, smiled
Play the sweet child

Smiled, smiled
Hold it in place
Smiled for the camera
Smile in their face

Dance Break
Kick, then sway
Step back, then leap
Heels on the floor
Secrets stay deep

Turn that grin
Make it look cute
Spin through the fear
Clap on the cue

Bridge
If we break it
Will it burn?
If we speak up
Will it turn?

Three girls trembling
One long thread
One wrong move and
We lose our bed

But if we keep this
We'll disappear
So hold that smile
And hide the fear

Final Chorus
Smiled, smiled
Pretty and mild
Smiled, smiled
Play the sweet child

Smiled, smiled
Hold it in place
Smiled for the camera
Smile in their face

Smiled, smiled
Don’t let it crack
Smiled, smiled
And never look back
