Springtown After Dark
by Patrick
Lyrics
Verse 1
Down in Springtown
the dust won’t sleep
Chain-link shadows
drag across the street
Old screen door
keeps bangin’ slow
Somebody left
a boot by the road
Pre-Chorus
You hear that scrape?
You hear that growl?
Ain’t no truck
but it moves around now
Hold your breath
don’t look too long
That kind of night
goes way too wrong
Chorus
Springtown after dark
don’t call my name (don’t call my name)
Springtown after dark
that park feels changed (that park feels changed)
If the porch light dies
you better run
Springtown after dark
ain’t safe for one
Verse 2
Mamma shut the blinds
locked the top latch
Said “boy, keep quiet
and don’t look back”
Got tire marks
in the muddy yard
Got a cold old laugh
from the blacked-out cars
Pre-Chorus
You hear that scrape?
You hear that growl?
Ain’t no truck
but it moves around now
Hold your breath
don’t look too long
That kind of night
goes way too wrong
Chorus
Springtown after dark
don’t call my name (don’t call my name)
Springtown after dark
that park feels changed (that park feels changed)
If the porch light dies
you better run
Springtown after dark
ain’t safe for one
Bridge
Footsteps stop
right at my door
Three soft knocks
then nothin’ more
I seen a shape
by the busted bin
Then the whole dead night
started grinnin’
Chorus
Springtown after dark
don’t call my name (don’t call my name)
Springtown after dark
that park feels changed (that park feels changed)
If the porch light dies
you better run
Springtown after dark
ain’t safe for one
