Next Right Step
Lyrics
Verse 1
You came through the smoke still breathing
Hands shook bad, but you kept on moving
Same old floor, same cracked ceiling
Still you got up, still you kept choosing
Look at those nights, they don’t own you
Look at that pain, it don’t fold you
Scar on your mind, but it told you
You can survive what tried to control you
Empty bottle days, now you count clean hours
Old friends gone, but you found your power
Took one hard look, said, “I’m still here”
That’s not luck, that’s earned through fear
You don’t need perfect, just honest today
One more step when the night feels gray
If you fall, get back in the ring
You been through hell and you still can sing
Pre-Chorus
Don’t look back to live there
Look back to see how far
You’re not the same person
You’re the proof of scars
One right step
Then another right step
You keep moving
That’s the comeback
Chorus
Next right step
Keep choosing you
Next right step
See what you can do
Next right step
You’re built to rise
Next right step
Don’t waste that light
(Next right step)
(Next right step)
You’re still becoming
You’re still alive
Verse 2
People love to talk like you’re stuck forever
Like your worst mistakes tattoo your forever
Nah, let them talk, let the whole room know
You been digging in the dark and you found that glow
You learned your triggers, learned your patterns
Learned your heart ain’t made for the damage
Learned that shame is a cheap old chain
And you broke that link with your own two hands
That’s real work, that’s a hard-won win
That’s getting back up, that’s starting again
That’s calling for help when the pride says “nah”
That’s telling the truth with a trembling jaw
Every bad thought don’t deserve a throne
Every old habit don’t get your home
You can miss the mark and still be gold
You can be scared and still be bold
Pre-Chorus
Don’t look back to live there
Look back to see how far
You’re not the same person
You’re the proof of scars
One right step
Then another right step
You keep moving
That’s the comeback
Chorus
Next right step
Keep choosing you
Next right step
See what you can do
Next right step
You’re built to rise
Next right step
Don’t waste that light
(Next right step)
(Next right step)
You’re still becoming
You’re still alive
Verse 3
So when the craving bites, when the doubts get loud
When the mirror tries to fold you back down
Say, “Not today,” with a chest out proud
I’m not my relapse, I’m not my crowd
I’m the one who stayed when the room got cold
I’m the one who learned how to carry this load
I’m the one who knows what my life is worth
I’m the one who came back to the earth
Feet on the ground, breath in my lungs
Future in sight, still work to be done
No magic trick, no overnight save
Just a hard-earned path and a stronger wave
And if your hands shake, let ’em shake
If your voice cracks, let it break
Then keep it moving, keep it true
The next right step is what carried you
Bridge
Half-time
Tell the truth
You were buried, not gone
Tell the truth
You were weak, then strong
Tell the truth
You are more than the worst
More than the wreckage, more than the hurt
One more call
One more meeting
One more night
Keep believing
One more step
One more fight
You can still turn toward the light
Final Chorus
Next right step
Keep choosing you
Next right step
See what you can do
Next right step
You’re built to rise
Next right step
Don’t waste that light
(Next right step)
(Next right step)
You’re still becoming
You’re still alive
Next right step
When the shame gets loud
Next right step
Stand your ground now
Next right step
You’ve come too far
Next right step
To live in the dark
(Next right step)
(Next right step)
You’re still becoming
You’re still alive
