Red Rails Run
by ryedies
Lyrics
Verse 1
Pulled up on the island, rain on the brake line
Map in my lap, but the woods lie every time
Old mine scars, twisted tracks through the pines
That spider-built nightmare got a hunger for the sky
Earl said, “Don’t stop at night, don’t trust the steel”
I saw three old shrines and a blood-red wheel
Feed it scraps, make the beast stay tame
But I heard that train scream like it knew my name
Pre-Chorus
Got the key, got the doubt
Hear that whistle, head to the ground
Golden eggs in the dark
One wrong step and you’re marked
Chorus
Choo Choo Charles, he’s coming for me
Burn those tracks, make the bastard bleed
Choo Choo Charles, all teeth and steam
Monster on rails, nightmare machine
(Choo Choo Charles)
Monster on rails, nightmare machine
Verse 2
Sneak through the shack, grab nails, grab grit
Upgrade my ride, make the turret spit
Four wheels shaking when the gravel starts to talk
I can hear his metal legs on the mountain top
Bandits in camp, they act so tough
Till the red-eyed engine turns their courage to rust
I take the eggs, I take the pain
Every shrine I crack, I’m one step closer to the flame
Pre-Chorus
Got the key, got the doubt
Hear that whistle, head to the ground
Golden eggs in the dark
One wrong step and you’re marked
Chorus
Choo Choo Charles, he’s coming for me
Burn those tracks, make the bastard bleed
Choo Choo Charles, all teeth and steam
Monster on rails, nightmare machine
(Choo Choo Charles)
Monster on rails, nightmare machine
Bridge
Deep in the mine, where the lanterns shake
Saw that devil’s face in the iron haze
Thomas the terror, but twisted raw
Big black eyes and a jaw full of law
I’m the last fool left on this cursed route
Gotta shoot that king or get shut down too
So I grip that iron, I don’t pray, I aim
If I die tonight, he dies in flames
Final Chorus
Choo Choo Charles, he’s coming for me
Burn those tracks, make the bastard bleed
Choo Choo Charles, all teeth and steam
Monster on rails, nightmare machine
Choo Choo Charles, I’m here to stay
One more shot and I clear the way
Choo Choo Charles, hear that scream
End of the line for the nightmare machine
