I still remember that Monday morning
my backpack felt twice my size
I stood outside those big front doors
trying to hide the nerve in my eyes
everyone looked like they knew where to go
while I was reading Evey sign
I smiled like I had it all together...
but I was lost most of the time

That's how my first day in high school started
onedeep breath and one small step
I didn't know who would become my friends
or the memories I hadn't made yet
looking back it's funny now
how scared I was of something new
that first day felt like forever
now it feels like yesterday too

I found my class a minute late
the teacher smiled and let me in
by lunchtime I knew acouple of names
and the fear began to thin

if I could talk to that nervous kid
standing outside those doors alone
I would simply and tell them this
oneday this place will feel like home
