that girl is a storm

Lyrics

She walks in with the windows shaking
Lightning hiding underneath her skin
Every word is a match she’s making
Every silence says the rain’s coming in

She’s got thunder in her heartbeat
Clouds that gather when she’s feeling low
But the world looks bright beneath her
Like a secret only wild hearts know

You can run for cover
You can board the doors
But you’ll never stop the ocean
When it reaches for the shore

That girl is a storm
Rolling over the city
She’ll break you apart
Then make you feel pretty
She’s danger and grace
With a hurricane smile
She’ll tear through your walls
Then stay for a while
You can call her trouble
You can call her warm
But don’t call her anything
That girl is a storm

She wears thunder like a silver necklace
And her eyes hold a midnight sea
Every scar is a little compass
Pointing somewhere she was born to be

She can turn a room to summer
She can freeze you with a single glance
She’s the kind of beautiful disaster
That makes you want to take the chance

You can chase the shelter
You can plead for calm
But the heart has its own weather
And hers is where I’m from

That girl is a storm
Rolling over the city
She’ll break you apart
Then make you feel pretty
She’s danger and grace
With a hurricane smile
She’ll tear through your walls
Then stay for a while
You can call her trouble
You can call her warm
But don’t call her anything
That girl is a storm

And when the night gets heavy
When the sky forgets the blue
She’ll turn her face toward morning
And pull the sunrise through

No, she doesn’t need saving
She just needs room to roar
She’s not waiting for the weather
She is what the weather’s for

That girl is a storm
And I’m caught in the weather
Every drop, every spark
Pulls me closer together
She’s a wild open flame
In a world running cold
A beautiful force
That can’t be controlled
Let the rooftops tremble
Let the whole sky transform
I’ll be standing in the rain
Loving that girl, that storm

When the clouds roll in
I know where I belong
Right beneath her thunder
Right inside her song
That girl is a storm
