Light travels fast but darkness goes first

Lyrics

After all, I’m one of us
I must be
Never thought of myself
As one of them
No one ever does

We’re always on the right side
Or so we suppose
They’re the ones who cross the line
That’s how it goes
They do the terrible things
At least in our heads
It’s easier that way
Than hearing what we said

Where dragons are windmills
And wisdom stands still
Where heroes need reasons
But villains just will
Two queens bend Fate
Every time they play chess
One calls it order
One calls it “guess”

Pre-Chorus
Why are you leaving?
So I can return
To see what was hidden
In what I had learned
The place that I came from
Through different eyes
Turns out the truth
Was dressed up as lies

[Chorus)
Light travels fast
But darkness goes first
By the time it reaches
We’ve already rehearsed
Standing at the doorway
Calling it fate
Something was waiting
Long before we were late

Bridge
We draw the lines
Then call them real
We name the monsters
So we don’t have to feel

Final Chorus
Light travels fast
But darkness goes first
Somewhere between them
We justify the worst
