Makayla Walk the Stage

Lyrics

Verse 1
Cap and gown, girl, look at you now
Little tassel on the side, big dreams in your eyes
We missed some days, yeah, we can’t get ‘em back
But we here in the bleachers, whole heart in this track

Pawpaw in his boots, Mimi dressed in her best
Phone up high tryna film every step
From a baby we ain’t get to hold all the time
To a queen on that stage with a future that shine

Chorus
Makayla, walk that stage
Pawpaw and Mimi screamin’ your name (hey!)
So beautiful, you glow so bright
So smart, girl, you gon’ change lives
We missed some pages in your book, that’s true
But we so proud of you, proud of you
Makayla, walk that stage, it’s your night
Pawpaw and Mimi love you for life

Verse 2
First part gone, but the story ain’t done
We just stepped in on your chapter of the sun
Honor roll smile, big brain, big heart
You been winnin’ from the jump, this just one part

Every late-night text, every call, every pic
Had us braggin’ on you, talkin’ big, talkin’ quick
“Y’all see my baby?” yeah, we say it a lot
‘Cause you worked so hard for every inch that you got

Chorus
Makayla, walk that stage
Pawpaw and Mimi screamin’ your name (oh yeah)
So beautiful, you glow so bright
So smart, girl, you gon’ change lives
We missed some pages in your book, that’s true
But we so proud of you, proud of you
Makayla, walk that stage, it’s your night
Pawpaw and Mimi love you for life

Bridge
From the back of the crowd, we still right by you
Every step you take, we gon’ clap right through
If you ever feel small, girl, remember this day
You made a whole family stand up and pray

Chorus
Makayla, walk that stage
Pawpaw and Mimi screamin’ your name (hey!)
So beautiful, you glow so bright
So smart, girl, you gon’ change lives
We missed some pages in your book, that’s true
But we so proud of you, proud of you
Makayla, walk that stage, it’s your night
Pawpaw and Mimi love you for life (for life)
