Beer Emu Export

Lyrics

Verse 1
Saw the crate marks, black on tan
Beer in the back, emu in the plan
Top shelf foam with a cold gold crown
Feathers on the flap when the truck rolled out

Dock by the water, chain-link fence
Forklift singin', whole night tense
One for the tavern, one for the ride
Funny how the wild stuff fits inside

Pallets stacked high, paper seals tight
Manager grinnin' like, "This might fly"
Stamped on the form, quick pen stroke
Big bird hustle with a barley coat

I said, "Who ordered this strange affair?"
He said, "That city likes it, send it there"
I kept one eye on the rearview glow
Beer emu export, watch it go

Chorus
Beer emu export
Say it again
Beer emu export
Paper and spin

Beer emu export
Big bird, cold brew
Beer emu export
I'm sendin' it through

Verse 2
Customs line long, hands on hips
Tried to act calm with a grin full of chips
One wrong glance and the whole thing squeaks
But the seal held firm through the long wet weeks

I know the route from the bay to the bay
Folks want a story with a taste that stays
Got a wild mascot on a shipping form
Got a tall drink leavin' in the storm

Feather by feather, can by can
Made a little legend with a rubber stamp hand
If the world wants weird, I bring weird clean
Top off the load and keep the lane mean

Back in the yard, night turned blue
Still talkin' 'bout what that bird can do
I just laughed when the engine roared
Beer emu export, all aboard

Chorus
Beer emu export
Say it again
Beer emu export
Paper and spin

Beer emu export
Big bird, cold brew
Beer emu export
I'm sendin' it through

Bridge
From the dock to the dream
Strange as it seems
One loud load, one clean run
Everybody knows when the work gets done

Chorus
Beer emu export
Say it again
Beer emu export
Paper and spin

Beer emu export
Big bird, cold brew
Beer emu export
I'm sendin' it through
