hold the line shangri'la
by James Vahle
Lyrics
Verse 1
Out past the blackened rim
Shangri-La took the line
Enterprise on her flank
Two hulls against the brine
Klingon fire in the dark
Green scars across the void
Deck plates shook like thunder
But the crew stood poised
Pre-Chorus
Then the bridge lights dipped
And the bulkheads cried
A hit tore through the spine
Where the captain died
Still the signal held
Still the orders flew
Enterprise locked in hard
And pushed straight through
Chorus
Hold the line, Shangri-La
Hold the line, Shangri-La
We will not break here
We will not break here
Hold the line, Shangri-La
Hold the line, Shangri-La
Victory burns on
Victory burns on
Verse 2
Enterprise cut them down
Left and right in flame
Klingon blades went silent
When her phasers came
Shangri-La was limping
Shields torn thin as glass
A wounded starship fading
But she would not pass
Pre-Chorus
Then the bridge lights dipped
And the bulkheads cried
A hit tore through the spine
Where the captain died
Still the signal held
Still the orders flew
Enterprise locked in hard
And pushed straight through
Chorus
Hold the line, Shangri-La
Hold the line, Shangri-La
We will not break here
We will not break here
Hold the line, Shangri-La
Hold the line, Shangri-La
Victory burns on
Victory burns on
Bridge
No one said a word
When the fight went still
Only boots and breath
And a heart that chilled
Enterprise came back
With the field made clean
Then a tractor beam wrapped tight
Like a silver seam
Final Chorus
Pull her home, Shangri-La
Pull her home, Shangri-La
Let the wounded fly
Let the wounded fly
Pull her home, Shangri-La
Pull her home, Shangri-La
Star base waits ahead
Star base waits ahead
Outro

To repair and rise

With a captain in the skies
