Harmony of Every Tongue

Lyrics

Intro
[soft drone
Distant drum]
One small circle
Many voices
One old lesson
Many choices

Pre-Chorus – Latin chant
Ubi caritas et amor
Familia
Ubi caritas et amor
Hominum unio

Chorus – English
Be kind to your neighbors
Be kind to yourselves
Be kind to your little family tree (oh-oh)
Be kind to each other
Be kind to everyone that you meet
Be kind
Be wise
Be living in peace with me
Don’t fight
Just sing along in harmony

Verse 2 – Irish / Tibetan / Cree
Under soft green hills we gather
Old stone stories in the moss
Share your bread and share your laughter
Let no wandering soul feel lost

Om mani padme hum
Heart like a clear blue sky
Breath goes in
Hurt goes out
Let the hard thoughts drift on by

steady powwow-style pulse
Neighbors
Cousins
All relations
We sit close around this fire
Hear the children
Hear creation
Kindness climbing higher
Higher (hey!)

Chorus – English + Hindi echo
Be kind to your neighbors
Be kind to yourselves
Be kind to your little family tree
Be kind to each other
Be kind to everyone that you meet
Be kind
Be wise
Be living in peace with me
Don’t fight
Just sing along in harmony (woah)

Bridge – Multi-language call & response
Peace
Shanti
Shalom
Salaam
Cara chroí
My dear one near
Om mani
Bring us here

Ubi caritas
We all rise
Neighbors looking in each other’s eyes
From the river to the sea of hearts
Only kindness
That’s where it starts

[Chorus – Big final
Overlapping]
Be kind to your neighbors
Be kind to yourselves
Be kind to your little family tree
Be kind to each other
Be kind to everyone that you meet
Be kind
Be wise
Be living in peace with me
Don’t fight
Just sing along in harmony

Outro
voices drop to a soft unison hum
Be kind
Be wise
Live in peace
Under one wide sky
