Victory

Lyrics

[Intro - pulsing acoustic guitar, bright piano stabs, bass pulsing under a rising drum-and-bass groove, male lead with airy female echoes]
Hey, hey
Yeah, we’re ready for the sound
Oh-oh
We’re looking up now

[Verse 1 - fast-moving acoustic strums, bouncing kick/snare pocket, soulful male lead, female response accents]
I heard a mystery in the midnight air
A holy promise hanging everywhere
We won’t all sleep, but we’ll all be changed
In a blink of light, we’ll be re-arranged
When the trumpet calls, and the heavens shake
Every grave gonna give way
What was buried will rise again
And the old life ends where the new one begins

[Pre-Chorus - tension building, piano climbing, choir pads swelling, handclaps rising]
Oh, can you feel it coming?
There’s a power in the dawn
Heaven’s moving, hope is racing
And the victory song is on

[Chorus - huge bounce drop, tight bass, driving percussion, full gospel choir, powerful male lead with female responses]
Death, where is your victory?
Death, where is your sting?
Jesus took the burden
Now the whole world can sing
Perishable put on imperishable
Mortal put on immortality
Thanks be to God, we’re already free
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, we got the victory
Oh-oh, we got the victory
Yeah, we got the victory

[Verse 2 - groove locked in, country-tinged slide guitar licks, bright piano, confident male vocal, gospel ad-libs]
This body’s fading, but my soul is strong
I know this house is not my home
What was broken will be made brand new
What was buried will rise and move
Sin had a grip, but it lost its claim
The law brought light, but grace broke chains
Now I’m living like the morning’s here
With a shout of faith and a holy cheer

[Pre-Chorus - layered harmonies, lift in melody, drum fills, call-and-response energy]
Oh, can you feel it coming?
There’s a power in the dawn
Heaven’s moving, hope is racing
And the victory song is on

[Chorus - bigger, more anthemic, choir stacks, shouted ad-libs, bass and drums surging]
Death, where is your victory?
Death, where is your sting?
Jesus took the burden
Now the whole world can sing
Perishable put on imperishable
Mortal put on immortality
Thanks be to God, we’re already free
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, we got the victory
Oh-oh, we got the victory
Yeah, we got the victory

[Bridge - stripped to piano, then swells with slide guitar and choir, heartfelt male lead, female responses]
In a moment, in a twinkling
Everything will change
At the sound of heaven calling
We will rise and praise Your name
No more sorrow, no more crying
No more night, no more grave
Jesus, You have swallowed death
And forever You will save

[Final Chorus - explosive full band, massive choir, danceable DnB bounce, triumphant ad-libs]
Death, where is your victory?
Death, where is your sting?
Jesus took the burden
Now the whole world can sing
Perishable put on imperishable
Mortal put on immortality
Thanks be to God, we’re already free
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, we got the victory
Oh-oh, we got the victory
Yeah, we got the victory
Oh-oh, we got the victory
Forever in Your victory

[Outro - acoustic guitar and piano fading, choir humming, reverb-drenched ad-libs]
Thanks be to God
Thanks be to God
Through Jesus Christ
We got the victory
